Classic Ajvar and Cheese Platter

A simple but elegant combination of flavors.

Ingredients:

  • Ajvar (mild or spicy)
  • Cheeses:
    • Aged cheddar
    • Brie
    • Gouda
    • Feta cheese
  • Crackers or sliced baguette
  • Fresh fruits: Grapes, apple slices, or figs
  • Olives: Kalamata or green olives
  • Nuts: Almonds or walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Arrange the Cheese: Place the cheeses on a large wooden board or platter. Slice some of the cheeses (like the cheddar and gouda) for easy serving. Leave the brie whole for guests to cut themselves.
  2. Add Ajvar: Spoon small bowls of ajvar onto the platter, ensuring both mild and spicy options are available for different tastes.
  3. Add Crackers/Bread: Arrange crackers and/or thinly sliced baguette around the cheeses.
  4. Garnish with Fruits and Nuts: Scatter grapes, apple slices, or figs around the cheeses. Add a handful of almonds or walnuts for crunch.
  5. Olives: Include a small bowl of olives for a salty contrast to the sweetness of the fruits.
